Moyock Commons Sewer District was formed in order to serve a shopping center and a
commercial park in the un-served area of Moyock NC. Bissell Professional Group was instrumental in forming the
District, designing the facility and obtaining all state and local permits for
construction and operation of the system, and managing the transaction from a
developer-owned facility to a public facility.
Eagle Creek Wastewater Reuse and Golf Irrigation System is a 350,000-gallon per day facility
that treats wastewater to North Carolina’s reuse standard. Reclaimed water is blended with groundwater
and used to irrigate a championship golf course. The community also has the first vacuum-type collection system
approved in the region, which resulted in estimated savings of hundreds of
thousands of dollars in construction costs.
Kill Devil Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant is a 500,000 gallon per day concrete Reuse
Treatment and Disposal System that serves a planned community, including a retirement
center. It uses a combination of conventional
high-rate and reclaimed water irrigation disposal systems.
Albemarle Plantation Irrigation System is in the process of being expanded from
a 78,000 gpd facility to a 200,000 gpd facility.
Kinnakeet Shores Reclaimed Water Irrigation System is in the process of being expanded from
a 50,000 gpd facility to a 350,000 gpd facility. In the process, it is being converted from a conventional to a reclaimed
water disposal system, using a combination of irrigation and infiltration.
